THROWBACK THURSDAY

I found this photo from 2 years ago.

I call this my ZOMBIE FLOWERS.

Faded Mother's Day Bouquet....2016.

Enlarging this shows the detail better.

LOOKING BACK ONE YEAR

We sure wish our Granddaughter could have been with us this year

for Mother's Day.

Her job kept her out of state but because of "modern technology"

We were able to "Face-Time" with her.

I love this picture of the both of us.

I think this one of Hubby and I turned out pretty good too.

These shots from last year will have to satisfy since we didn't take any this year.

Best gift this year...

Naps in every comfy surface in the house...(:0)

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

This time of year always makes me nostalgic.

I really miss my Mom and Dad.

In looking through an old family album I came across this photo of them.

I don't remember seeing it before.

The year was 1942...before I was born....

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

Thanks for looking.

FOUND...MY BABY PICTURES

In looking for one thing I found something else.

Several of my pictures from about 1 or 1 1/2 years old.

I think they are rather cute..

I really don't identify them as being me...but I know they are.

Huh?

See ?

Oh Boy !

THIS AND THAT

Since my Hubby has been sick with an ugly cough and allergies

I haven't been out to shoot some photos.

I did receive a darling photo of my Granddaughter for her 9th birthday last week.

Isn't she precious?

In honor of my son the Nurse.....

I am so grateful for him and the work that all the nurses do each and every day.

And just because a bit of levity is good for the soul....

Have a great day.

MERLO PARK ARCHIVES

Our nephew Mike just finished prepping this beautiful park

for the summer season.

He and his family are caretakers of the Paradise, CA park.

I went back into the archives from 2013 to show some of the wonderful spots.

Doesn't this look like a place to just sit and ponder?

There are many wonderful statues placed around the trails.

Isn't this amazing?

It's an exact replica of the Pieta crafted in marble and brought here from Italy.

I didn't realize how long it's been since we were there.

Seems a road trip is in order now that the weather is better.

As always enlarging the photos will give you more detail.

KITCHEN KREW REUNION

We had a great time on Sunday Evening.

It was our Kitchen Krew (from Mexico) Reunion.

I was so busy talking that I didn't get photos taken.

Thankfully Vicky Fu did a wonderful job.

Here are 2 shots from her many.

Not everyone is in these but I wanted some memories for my end of the year book.

Love these people that are like family.

BEALE AIR FORCE BASE AIR SHOW

Dave and I had a great Saturday afternoon.

We went to Beale Air Force Base for a terrific Free air show and expo.

We joined thousands seeing the sights.

This is the first time since 2009 that the Base has been open to the public for an air show.

We saw Aerobatics, Wings of Blue, Patriots Jet demos, BlackHawk,

U2 spy plane and a whole lot of planes that I don't know the names of.

Weather was perfect too.

Crazy clouds...

Precision fly teams...

They sure fly in close formation.

Enlarging these will show a lot more detail.

Here's on of the HUGE transport carriers that we got to walk through.

A single line of bench seats on either side with seat belts for the soldiers

and the center was for jeeps, tanks and all their gear..I couldn't get over how big it was,

and how uncomfortable it must be to travel that way.

Here's my Hubby coming down the gangway...very steep.

Here's the U2 spy plane going through its paces.

Paratroopers hitting the Mark exactly from an extremely high altitude.

This is the Chinook Chopper that took down Sadam Hussain.

Thanks for looking.

We had a great time.

A NOT SO FUN 2 DAYS

The last 2 days have been quite scary for our quiet neighborhood.

The house behind us had a terrible fire two mornings ago.

The family got out safely.  It was about 6 AM.

This shot is difficult to see, that's because of the clouds of smoke billowing out of the roof.

The blurred image is a fireman attempting to open up the tile roof.

This is taken from our backyard looking at the house on the other side of the fence.

There were 7 engines from our surrounding cities and about 14 men working

on the house.

It never spread to any of us.

Fire OUT, chain link fence put up, power turned off and the family went to stay at a hotel.

Yesterday morning we were awakened at about the same time.

Sirens blaring, engines arriving, banging and chopping could be heard.

We jumped from bed, got dressed and saw flames shooting from the same house behind us!

You can see the glow of the fire through the trees.

This is just too close for comfort.

We walked around the block to see that the house was still burning pretty well.

What a mess....

The Fire Captain gave an interview to KCRA 3 , our local news station.

Several ladies who were out walking their dogs

said they saw a person in black clothing and a hoodie

on the other side of the chain link fence running away from the house.

Not sure if this is accurate or not,

But.....

There are some very suspicious circumstances surrounding this home

and the family that lives there.

That's all I'm going to say about it now

I will update you as the days go on.

Dave and I are so thankful for the First Responders and all the work they did.

Things could have been so much worse for all of us.

Don't forget to enlarge the photos.

DIVING BACK INTO THE ARCHIVES

The year is 2015.

I needed some pretty flowers and scenes to celebrate today.

My Granddaughter announced she is in a relationship with a great guy.

Thrilled for her.

It made me think about one of my favorite photos of her in her Happy Place.

It's hard to believe that it was 3 years ago that we visited our younger son in Oregon.

Lots of changes

Oregon sure has some interesting things to photograph.

Thanks for watching my ramblings today.

Hope your week is a good one.

FRIDAY REMINDERS

After our trip to Sutter's Fort last Wednesday.

I got to thinking about the only other time we visited the Fort.

The date was 2007.

We hadn't even moved to the Sacramento, CA area yet.

The following photos are from our visit with our older son and family.

I love these photos.  Our redheaded granddaughters are so young.

How times have flown by.

I really like the reenactments all over the Fort grounds.

Amanda helping do laundry.

Prepping the cannon to be fired on the hour.

Granddaughter Lauren ringing the bell for the flag ceremony.

Barrels for water.

A view from the inside.

Thanks for looking at my jaunt down memory lane.

SUTTER'S FORT STATE HISTORICAL PARK

Last night my Hubby and I went to a Friends of Sutter's Fort event.

It was entitled "Through the Lens of Harry Peterson".

Harry was the first curator of the Fort back in the early 1930's.

He took amazing photos of everything having to do with the Fort

and it's beginnings during the Gold Rush in California.

It was so much fun to be in the Fort after closing and to explore

as night fell.

Dave and I hadn't been to the Fort since 2007.

I had forgotten how centrally located it was...in the middle of downtown Sacramento.

We arrived in daylight.

Vintage in the foreground, modern on the other side of the wall.

The last rays of sunlight pinpointed the church outside the Fort.

There is wonderful restoration going on in the buildings.

The roof is the next project.

They try to keep all the buildings true to the time period.

Scruffy and peeling paint always catches my attention.

The Fort has reenactments during the summer months.

Its always fun to see people in costume doing everyday activities of the 1800's.

I took a peek through on of the windows to see the tools of the day.

I really like when things are truly authentic.

We definitely will return for more events and this summer too.

I need more photos of costumes and activities.

Don't forget to enlarge the photos for more detail.
