It seems we are in for a change in the weather.
The weather guys say snow in the mountains...
which we need so badly,
Maybe a sprinkle or two here in Rocklin, CA.
A cold blast is coming down from Canada
and we are in for frost and early morning temps around 30F.
Now that's just plain freezing for us delicate people.
Thanks for looking.
As always please enlarge the photos to see the detail.

We really haven't had enough winter in our neck of the woods.
The trees seem to have forgotten that we need more rain and mountain snow.
This photo is from last year.
I'm not sure we will even get a few buds on our sad trees this year.
The pink flowering plums are beginning to pop out all over.
Our almond tree is doing its thing though.
Its so pretty against the blue sky today.
This is such a beautiful time of year but,
I can feel the ACHOOS coming....

Dave and I made our way into the foothills to "kill" time
while our car was being serviced.
Nothing was blossoming yet.
We did find some really interesting pruning jobs.
Apple Hill is now mostly apple orchards.
Long ago pears and peaches were the major crop.
There were rows and rows of Scarecrow looking trees.
We saw some dried Fuji type apples hanging on for dear life.
I never saw this type of pruning before.
All the trees were trimmed into V shapes.
Apparently it is for ease of harvesting the apples quickly.
One of my friends said these look like antlers.
I quite agree.
We will return sometime this Summer to see the progress
And of course in the Fall when they are full of apples.
To Be Continued.....

Yesterday was the first day of February.
The air was warm and the sun shined beautifully all day.
We were blessed with the most glorious sunset.
I wish we were up higher so I could have captured more of the magnificent color.
Have a wonderful weekend .

Fifty Four years ago today Dave and I marched down the aisle.
The adventure of a lifetime began.
I wouldn't trade any of it....
The ups and downs only made us stronger.
Oh my...so young...so thin....
Waiting for our cue....
It's hard to believe that two of my bridesmaids and two of Dave's groomsmen
have passed away already.
Good memories of long ago.
Not too messy..
On our way to Disneyland for our honeymoon.
Love the outfits with hats and gloves.
Happy Anniversary to my Love and my Best Friend.

This turned out to be a " FOODIE " weekend for us.
On Friday we were in charge of set up, making salads , serving dinner and clean up for Celebrate Recovery.
Its always a pleasure to step in and help when the regulars are out of town.
On Sunday Dave and I did the same type of thing for a big dinner at church.
We were part of a great crew.
Kevin Kauer does such a great job of cooking for the masses.
I'm so happy to be a part of his team.
It won't be long before we do the "Kevin Kauer Kitchen Krew"
in Mexicali, Mexico.
Of course our table settings there in Mexico won't look as elegant as this one at church.
Don't forget to enlarge the photo so you can see the detail better.

I looked out my window a few hours ago and saw this ominous dark cloud.
The sun was shinning so brightly in our neighborhood.
My first thought was, Man...it must be snowing in the mountains to the North.
I think it must be snowing there.
Don't forget to enlarge this to get the full picture.

I didn't get outside quickly enough this morning.
I missed sunrise and the heaviest part of the frosty morning.
The air was crisp and the neighbors' roof still had the white stuff on it.
The temperature was 36*F.
My breath came out in puffs of clouds.
Don't forget to enlarge the photo to see the detail.

Our few days of rain has brought out the moss in all its glory.
The sun, at the perfect late afternoon angle, highlighted this rock perfectly.
It seems that all of our fruit trees have seen better days.
This poor peach tree really shows its age.
I have to admit that the lichen on the trunk is pretty though.
I don't think there is any hope in saving it.
It makes me very sad.
Rain is predicted this weekend with heavy snow in the mountains.
We need it badly but it will keep us from working in the yard.

We have had a few days of hard soaking rains in our area.
As always, our yard seems to become a swamp.
Today cleared and we tried to figure out why our drains are not doing their job.
It's a mystery. We just don't know where the drains are beneath the lawn and side yard.
I know this doesn't look like much , but you can see that the end pipe doesn't do the job.
We just can't figure out where the entry is and how to unplug the darn thing.
In any case being outside today allowed us to see the beautiful sky
And breathe in the crisp, dampish day.

Today is my lovely granddaughter's 18th birthday.
She is beautiful both inside and out.
I love her quiet and gentle spirit and that crazy giggle too.
It was so special to be present at her birth.
How do the years fly by so quickly?
My son Steve took this amazing photo of her.
I think it's fantastic...just like she is.

This new year brings a year older, new editions to our family
Happy birthday to the love of my life.
Dave is a New Years baby ...January 1st.
We celebrated by going out to dinner at Chili's with our older son and family and some close friends.
This lovely granddaughter on the left celebrates her 18th birthday in 2 more days.
Our younger son remarried a few months ago.
Now I have 3 additional granddaughters.
My heart is full.
Now Mark has 4 beautiful daughters.
Can you see how fortunate we are?
Happiness is family.
I'm sorry I don't have a recent photo of our grandson.
Thanks for looking.

The following photos are more for me and the memories
to be printed in my ShareBook for the year 2017.
When our older son and family returned from their trip
We were finally able to have Christmas together.
Not the greatest photo taken directly into the glare of the window.
We pretended it was Christmas morning and did breakfast, opened our stockings
from Santa, and then opened the special gifts from each other.
Even Snicker ( in her new haircut) got into the act.
When she's comfy and content her favorite place is on one of our feet.
10 years old and still thinks she's a puppy.
After breakfast the horses that are boarded in the acreage behind our son's home,
came to see what there was to eat.
It's nice to see these beautiful animals without having to deal with the daily care.
This horse seemed to be the Alpha of the group.
The other horses gave it plenty of room when it approached the fence.
The big gorgeous horse really wanted to come over the fence to get the apple.
This was so fun to watch and the weather was perfect.
I'm ending with the gorgeous photo my son took of 2 of our granddaughters.
Things are changing. A new job in another state for one of them,
The other is graduating High School and turning 18 in a few days...
And this Grandma is getting older but so proud of all of her family.
I do wish our other son and his family could have been with us too.
Hopefully next year...

This Christmas was a little bit different this year.
Our younger son lives in Oregon and had his own celebration there.
The older son and family were in Las Vegas.
Our granddaughter had an important interview to attend.
We missed them all so much but had a really nice time with friends that are like family.
We had the best ham I think we have ever had.
There is nothing like special friends.

Its hard to believe that it was 38 years ago today that my Father in Law
Went to heaven.
He was such a kind and gentle man, and loved by all.
He was a great Dad, Father in Law, Husband, Grandpa and fantastic businessman.
I still miss him and his big booming voice.
He loved San Francisco and had the distinct honor
of being able to go to the top of the Golden Gate Bridge.
